Again - another 19 year old male opinion........Bill on the Front Page.......

Last night, Hillary Clinton won the DNC nomination and will be the first woman atop a major party ticket, yet women all over the country remain outraged because many news outlets posted a headline picture of Bill Clinton rather than Hillary to announce the historic news. Our brave, tireless army of social media warriors fired up their twitter fingers and went to battle this injustice. I think they may have been victorious as many papers such as The Wall Street Journal actually changed the picture overnight to a picture of Hillary beaming on the big screen. Well done.

If I were deciding last night who was going to be pictured on the front page, it would be Hillary. I would find a picture of her from a different event, (she wasn't present at the convention) and publish it. That being said, if I decided to choose a picture of Bill instead, it would still make perfect sense in my mind. I would choose a picture of Bill perhaps because he made a very moving speech promoting his wife to our nation, because he was the one physically at the event and I would want to show a picture from that night, or maybe even simply because he did an awesome salute with thousands of people cheering and I like awesome salutes. I would not choose a picture of Bill in order to “erase women from history,” I would not to do it to suppress, belittle or overlook her historical accomplishment. I would do it with zero negative intentions in mind and I am quite sure that these newspapers did the same. It seems quite simple, a big event occurs, people take pictures of it, articles are written, one of the pictures is chosen to christen said articles, it is sent out for consumption. Bill was there at the convention making a powerful speech on Hillary's behalf and I do not think that it is in any way unfair or insulting that his likeness wound up on the front page. If this was 2012 and Michelle Obama made a great speech and her face was on the front page instead or Barack's, I am very confident that myself along with the other males in America would have zero complaints because it is simply not insulting and not a big deal.
