Unique Ways to Make your Parenting Plan Work for You

Posted by Elise Buie | Nov 15, 2016 | 0 Comments

Every person, every family, and every divorce is unique. Gone are the days where everyone is stuck in the “every Wednesday and every other weekend” rut. While this arrangement may work for some, in the modern age attorneys and families can work together to craft unique parenting arrangements that are right for your lifestyle.

Just last week the Wall Street Journal released this article describing a family who have tailored their parenting plan so that the children remaining in the home while the parents move in and out each week. This provides continuity for the children, but requires amicable parents who co-parent well together.

For others a duplex arrangement or houses next to each other may provide some of the same benefits while still providing separate space. It may not fit all families, but is shows new flexibility and imagination in parenting arrangements. As parenthood increasingly becomes the equal domain of both parents' creative strategies regarding parenting plans are coming in to play.

As the article points out “Psychologists say that children can emerge almost unscathed from even the nastiest divorces if the couple works together as parents.” Finding the right fit for you and your family for the future is of the utmost importance in crafting a working parenting plan.
